THIS ROLE JUST WASN’T THE ONE FOR YOU

We don’t feel that the role you have applied for is right for you. This short video should offer some more perspective on the situation.

This video is a personal thank you for sending through your CV. The recruitment market remains a tricky beast and we’re doing everything we can to help, guide and lead PAs that apply to jobs we’re actively recruiting at the moment.

I have to offer the bad news of telling you that you haven’t been successful in this particular process but I will end on some good news, and whilst it won’t pay the bills I think will offer you some hope for the future.

The level of competition jobseekers face at the moment is incredibly high – not only in terms of volumes but in terms of relevancy and I am afraid to say that in this instance we didn’t feel that your CV was a match against the requirements outlined by the Client.

My advice to you right now is to really focus in on your skills, experience and achievements in your industry, job type and previous experience.

I am afraid we’re not in a position right now to offer personal feedback on every application, as much as we’d like to.

But I wanted to offer as much guidance as possible, that could be of help to you.

Your best chance of finding a new role today is to apply to jobs for which you are a high match.

When a job spec is asking for certain skills, experience, education or previous achievements, back in 2019 there was a chance, that the Client may have to be flexible on these requirements – but not in 2021.

When a Client asks for 5 must-have skills and experience and 5 “would be nice to have” skills and experience in 2021 there’s a good chance, they’ll get all 10.

This puts people on the back foot, and I am afraid in this instance we didn’t feel there was a match to these requirements.

We’re doing all we can to help you, so my advice right now is to look at your skills and experience and when you see a job advert online to really look into detail about how many of these things you match – you’re going to need a high level of match in order to get short-listed.

Both agency recruiters and direct employers are looking for the same thing when they review applications, and that is the individuals with the most relevant skills and experience.

With every job receiving hundreds, if not thousands, of applications it’s important to work out how you can be at the top of the list.

When you are applying for jobs, seek out the ones that truly match your experience and background, and our biggest tip is to make sure that you have detailed the relevant stuff on your application!

So many people miss key details or information off of their CV, and then they don’t get shortlisted because of it! Make it easy for the recruiter to choose you by telling them exactly what they need to see – if you have the right skills and experience it needs to be highlighted!

The truth is in this market if a job advert says a degree and you don’t have one, or French and you don’t have it, or 5 years’ experience and you have two, I can promise you that there will absolutely be Candidates who have all of these, so you’re chances of being successful are very slim.

So…that’s the bad news, I am afraid, but I wanted to end on a positive.

As well as running a recruitment business, last year I also founded an event, platform, and community to help all job seekers called The Great British Job Search we were able to help 1000s of people deal with their job search challenges.

Well, the good news is that we’re recreating this in late March, but this time specifically and exclusively for PAs.

The PA Summit is going to be one week of activity, learning and helping you deal with the challenges that the PA job faces over the coming months.

Based around the theme of The Past, The Present and The Future we’re certain that this is going to be an exciting time for PAs and that there’s going to be huge potential for the role of Assisting people in the world we all go back into.

The event is free to join and all you have to do is register at www.ThePASummit.com to get all the updates, announcements and invitation to join!

Thank you again for taking the time to apply to TalentSmiths and whilst we can’t help you find a job today; I hope we’ll be able to be of huge help moving forward.

Stay strong and hopefully see you soon!
